This year's Nouveau and Rhubarb Wine Competitions will be held at the Croatian Hall on Tuesday, May 7th at 7:00 pm. The meeting date was changed to one day earlier due to scheduling conflicts at the Hall.
Please bring in your entries before 7 pm so that the Wine Steward can get them logged in and placed at tables before the Competitions begin. Remember that a Nouveau Wine needs to be less than a year old to be eligible.
We will start with the Rhubarb Competition, and when the winner has been determined we will have a short General Meeting, then commence with the Nouveau Competition.
The competitions are open to all current amateur Purple Foot Club members. Guests are welcome to attend and observe.
We will have 7 tables set up for the different categories which include:
Any Red Grape, Non-Vinifera Red Grape, Any White Grape, Non-Vinifera White Grape, Berry Fruit, Non-Berry Fruit, and Specialty Wines. The Rhubarb wines will be judged separately before the meeting starts. Each table will have an assigned primary judge, and members are invited to participate in the judging at any of the tables, providing that they haven't entered a wine in that category.
Ribbons will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place, plus a special award for the Best in Show. The Rhubarb winner will have their name engraved onto the traveling trophy!
This is a great opportunity to win bragging rights for your home winemaking skills, and also to hone your judging abilities.
Unlike other General Meetings, Wine Evaluators will be available AFTER the competitions versus before the meeting.
