April Wine Tasting Event

  • April 10, 2024
  • 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM
  • Croatian Hall - South St. Paul

We will meet at the Croatian Hall, then have a short meeting at about 7 pm followed by a special progam.

Our very own Kent Nienaber will be making a presentation on South African wines.  We will look at the areas along the Western Cape which is their famed wine country.  The first vines were planted by the Dutch governor of Cape of Good Hope back in the 17th century. Thanks to its dry, mountainous climate, the region is one of the world’s top ten largest wine producers and is known for its incredible Chenin Blancs, Bordeaux-style blends, Cabernet Sauvignon, and native Pinotage wines.

We will experience tasting some excellent quality South African wines.  These wines do not always get the credit they are due, but with that said, it makes these wines a great value from a region that continues to emerge.

Club Members can attend for free. Non-members will be charged a $10 fee at the door. Of course, guests can join the Purple Foot Club before the meeting and then enjoy the tasting at no charge.

Please refrain from bringing your own wine out of respect for our presenter. The exception will be for a pre-meeting evaluation with our Wine Doctors from the Mentorship Committee. Those wines will then be stowed away once the meeting begins.

Hope to see you all there!
